Press review:
It was one year ago, almost to the day, at the 2021 Mâcon Great Wines of France competition. The 2020 vintage of Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru Les Chevrières from Juliénas Chaintré Vignerons Associés received the first gold medal. An unprecedented recognition for a Premier Cru in Pouilly-Fuissé, which comes after 14 long years of studies led by the appellation’s winegrowers and approved in November 2020 by the Institut National des Appellations d’Origine (INAO). The winery saw two of its Pouilly-Fuissé wines classified as Premier Crus: the climats Les Chevrières and Aux Quarts, from the commune of Chaintré. “Pouilly-Fuissé joins the family of the greatest white wines of Burgundy!” observes Frédéric Descombes, president of Juliénas Chaintré. This is sure to attract and captivate enthusiasts of exceptional wines, and further establish the reputation of the Mâconnais vineyard. The result of extensive work by the winegrowers and the cellar team with over 18 months of aging in oak barrels, these wines required considerable attention and precision to fully express their terroir and character. After the first tastings, success is already evident, with each wine having its own distinct identity. Where Aux Quarts stands out for its opulence and complexity, Les Chevrières showcases its elegance and finesse. These premium wines can be enjoyed on their own or paired with refined cuisine. “All that remains is to come and taste them to form your own opinion,” invites Frédéric.
